About Us

Where did it all start?

A few years ago, Aidan went into his local Morrisons store to buy some Ben & Jerrys ice cream.  He discovered that Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream was on offer – reduced from £4.50 to £2.99.  Thinking about the offer he reflected that, while it was good that he could save £1.51, Morrisons had really wasted the discount as he had been willing to buy the ice cream for £4.50 anyway.  So Morrisons had actually lost the opportunity to make £1.51 more profit, because they offered their discounts to everyone.

At around that time Paul stopped at a petrol station to buy fuel.  He chose BP because he had some vouchers from BP that would have saved him £2.50.  But when he went to pay, he discovered that the vouchers were out of date and he was not entitled to a discount, which was a disappointment.

When Aidan and Paul were reflecting on these two events together, they realised that there was a great business opportunity – to ensure shoppers always got deals on whatever they wanted to buy.  So they decided to build an app that would enable retailers to send their offers directly to people who wanted to buy their products.  The app would also allow consumers to notify the retailers about which products they wanted to buy.  They called the app What’sInStore.

Our fundamental ideas have not changed since the outset:

  • You should never miss out on offers on anything that you want to buy
  • The app is free to download.
  • We do not charge for using the service.
  • We simply charge retailers and advertisers a small monthly fee.
  • Your privacy is paramount

Where are we up to now?

If you go to the What’sInStore website today (www.whatsinstore.co.uk) you will see many offers from all sorts of different retailers (Live Offers), and you can shop on-line, or go to the stores, to take advantage of the deals.

To personalise your experience, you can make a list of any products and services that you are looking to buy (My Wishlist) and What’sInStore will notify you when a deal becomes available in your area.  We won’t send you anything else.

To be clear – no hassle

If you chose only one product that you are interested in getting deals on, then you will only ever get notified when we have a deal from a retailer in your area on that product.  Other than that, you will not be bothered by us.

We think that is a much better service than bombarding you with hundreds of offers for products and services that you don’t want, like other businesses do.

What do we mean by “your area”?

Well that’s completely up to you.  We have built in a geolocator and you can choose to see offers from stores at any distance from your location – from 1 mile to the whole country – and on the internet.  In fact, say you chose 1 mile from your location, when you are shopping, What’sInStore will find you offers within I mile of your live location.  So you can find deals wherever you are.

We have done a couple of things to make your What’sInStore experience even better:

1            Searching

It can be tedious typing out the names of products.  To make your life easier, our sophisticated search engine will automatically give you a list of products predicted from what you have typed.

2            Barcode Scanner

Just scan the barcode and What’sInStore will find the product for you – it ensures you will get exactly the same colour make-up or bottle of wine

3            Favourite Store

We all have favourite stores, don’t we?  We all want to see all the deals that our favourite stores have on.  So, you can make any store your favourite and you will be notified about all offers from that store (i.e. not just on the products that you have asked for).

4            The What’sInStore BLOG

What’sInStore is all about making your money go further, so we thought we would share our experiences of the many different ways that you can manage your money.  We have loads of ideas and information that will help you live for less, so you have more left for the things you want.

Privacy guaranteed

We will never sell or give any of your information to any other organisation.

You will never receive unsolicited emails because of us.

Retailers that use What’sInStore will not be able to identify you.

Imagine

  • You are a young mother on a tight budget.  Nappies are a big expense.  How good would it be to be notified by What’sInStore when your local retailer has an offer on nappies?
  • You have a nice bottle of wine with your meal.  Afterwards you just scan the barcode and add that wine to your What’sInStore Wishlist.  Next time that bottle is on offer you can be sure to buy it at a good price
  • You unexpectedly find yourself needing a hotel room for the night.  Just ask What’sInStore for deals on hotel rooms wherever you are.
  • You want a new coffee machine but worry about the cost.  Just put “Coffee Machines” on your What’sInStore Wishlist and wait to be notified when someone is offering them at a discount.
  • You collect antique model cars and you are looking for a particular model. Ask What’sInStore to keep an eye out for you.  Anyone selling antique model cars can see that someone is looking to boost their collection and can send you an alert via What’sInStore.
